There are days in my life when it feels like my world is too full; full of life, full of kids, full of emotions, full of family, full of creativity, and full of love.
There are 14 little hands that are pulling at my on a daily basis, not to mention the larger set that occasionally make an appearance to help the daily running of this household. Although there are days that I wonder how I am going to make it through the next day or even hours when I wonder if I can handle the next, I have realized that these kids filling my days will not always be little. Recently I had someone remind me that 'although the days are long, the years and very short.' This is a great mantra and has gotten me through the moments that seem so difficult {and there I go off on a tangent, sorry}
About a year ago, ideas swirled around in my head and needed an outlet, so this little blog was born - Permanent Kisses! {One of these days I am going to sit down and explain where the name came from}
I enjoy crafting - all kinds...
I began handwork about 8 years ago when my mom encouraged me to trying knitting in earnest; I found I had a knack. Knitting is the first craft that I feel completely comfortable and confident in my ability to complete complex patterns and even to create my own. There are times when I find my ongoing project just for the pure relaxation in the needle motions.
Sewing has been my interest of late. I feel more and more comfortable with my hands guiding fabric under the hammering of a needle, creating little projects that make my life happier. Occasionally while I am putting together a project I know that there is an easier way to accomplish what I am trying to do, so sometimes I figure it out myself and others I find an online tutorial that helps.
Power tools and wood working do not scare me. In fact, I am pretty sure that I fell in love on a construction site! Miter saws, cordless drills, and hammers/screws can create some of the most awesome projects. The only tool that I have not learned to use is the table saw, but perhaps someday I will tackle that as well.
I am sure that as I continue to explore the lovely internet world of blogs {and Pinterest} there will be new crafts and hobbies that pique my interest. If only there were more hours in the day, or night - as I am much more of a night owl than an early bird. Maybe that is why I love all those pop art owls!
When this little life I lead feels like it is pulling me under, I found what makes me happy! It has been a bit of a quest, but when I am busy; I am happy. Not the changing diapers, scrubbing floors, wiping dust, folding laundry types of busy (although those chores are inevitable). But instead the sewing, knitting, and baking projects - now those are what make me happy, and happy is good! Rather than stressing over the sticky door handles and smudgy windows, I choose to loose myself in creating (or sometimes idea finding on the internet), and that is okay.
Please check out my blog tomorrow, as you will be mentioned!
